Buena Vista set to stage PR pitch

Buena Vista Home Entertainment is reviewing its consumer, corporate and crisis PR and has approached 17 agencies to scrap it out for the business.

BVHE, the home entertainment division of Walt Disney, currently retains Consolidated Communications, which has held the account for 14 years.

BVHE head of comms Rochelle Gosling said the review was triggered by ‘a supplier review in conjunction with [Disney’s] strategic sourcing department’, adding: ‘It is best practice to review agencies on a regular basis.’

Gosling insisted the review did not ‘reflect Consolidated’s performance’ but acknowledged that Wired Publicity, which handles BVHE’s broadcast PR, was not under review.

It is understood that annual fees for the account are worth at least £200,000.

A shortlist of agencies is likely to be drawn up in six weeks, with an agency installed by August.

The account involves generating publicity for movie releases on VHS and DVD format, in addition to press office, crisis and corporate PR.

Consolidated board director Rachael Sansom said: ‘We welcome the opportunity to re-evaluate our work with BVHE.’
