Accenture grabs Thomas for top post

Accenture, the IT consulting giant, has lured Hill & Knowlton’s tech practice chief Peter Thomas to take the newly created role of director of marketing and communications, UK & Ireland.

His hire comes as the firm prepares to mount a charm offensive to secure new business in a fiercely competitive market against rivals which include IBM and EDS.

Thomas will lead efforts to woo government departments and corporations to outsource their computer systems to Accenture as well as to uphold its reputation in the media. He will report to global director of marketing operations Claire Allen.

Thomas, whose start date is still being negotiated, leaves H&K as vice-president of technology, EMEA, a role he has occupied for the past three years. He joined the agency’s UK tech team seven years ago from Brodeur Worldwide.
