Stephen joins EU campaign group

Pro-Europe campaign group the European Movement has appointed a former special adviser to Lord Owen as director as it bids to boost Britons’ opinion of the European Union.

David Stephen has joined following 12 years at the United Nations. He was special adviser to David Owen in the 1970s Labour government.

European Movement chairman Ian Taylor MP said: ‘There is much to do to re-establish a positive attitude to EU membership.’

Stephen replaces Justin Powell-Tuck, who is now at Hill & Knowlton as a senior consultant in Saudi Arabia.
