Simply Energy in broadcast drive

Consumer advice service Simply Energy has appointed its first head of media relations in Alistair Neale as it attempts to increase its profile in broadcast media.

Neale previously worked for Simply Energy’s biggest competitor uSwitch at Lansons Communications.

According to Simply Energy CEO Karen Darby, his experience on the agency’s broadcast team would be important as Simply Energy positions itself in the mainstream media as a commentator on energy issues, such as debate about the worthiness of renewable energies.

Neale heads an in-house PR team of three, taking over press office duties from the agency which helped launch the service in 2002, EMG

Eurocom, which recently rebranded as Bond PR.

‘PR produced a lot of our revenues in the early days, so we are always keen to continue to up the ante in PR,’ said Darby.
