Lilly PRO quits role for Red Door

Lilly UK has been hit by the resignation of product communications adviser Mark Sudwell, who has left to join Red Door Communicat- ions – one of the drugs giant’s retained agencies.

Sudwell is to join Red Door next month in the role of associate director.

Reporting to senior manager of product communications Jeff Smith within Lilly’s corporate affairs team, Sudwell’s responsibilities involve developing PR tactics for existing and pre-launch brands via sales and marketing teams.

Smith told PRWeek that a recruitment search was already under way for Sudwell’s successor.

Sudwell’s responsibilities at Lilly have included the management of PR agencies, including Red Door, which is retained by the drugs company to promote its osteoporosis products, including brands such as Evista and Forsteo, in addition to work for its oncology and critical care – Xigris – portfolio.

Sudwell’s appointment means he will become Red Door’s second associate director, alongside Catherine Devaney, reporting to managing director Catherine Warne and director Julia Tollis.

He formerly worked with Warne when she was managing director of GCI Healthcare. He was an account manager at GCI for almost two years.

At Lilly, Sudwell has worked on projects such as the UK launch of erectile dysfunction brand Cialis.

Sudwell is also a former comms officer at the British Heart Foundation.
