Healthcare fee incomes are up

Almost three-quarters of the UK’s top 25 healthcare PR agencies reported fee income growth in 2003, with 35 per cent of those increasing by more than 50 per cent, according to this year’s PRWeek healthcare league table.

MediTech Media retained the top spot, with fee income growth of 19 per cent from £6.7m in 2002 to £8.05m in 2003. Second-placed Munro & Forster Communications boosted its healthcare fee income by 16 per cent to £3.4m. But Edelman, in third place, dropped 32 per cent to £2.7m.

Ethical and pharma communications remained the biggest earner for the sector, generating more than £14m, accounting for almost 44 per cent of overall fee income.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act prevented companies owned by Omnicom, Interpublic, WPP, Grey, Havas and Publicis from entering.
