PRWEEK AWARDS: The deadline for entries to the PRWeek Awards 2004 is just three weeks away. Entries coming in after 4 June will be subject to an extra fee of £50 plus VAT. There is 24-hour security for delivery of entries.

CONSUMER PR: Resonate has been hired by US firm McCormick Foods. The agency will provide a press office and handle media relations to raise awareness of Schwartz’s new Special Selection range and the portfolio of Schwartz herbs and spices.

APPOINTMENT: Independent Irish agency Gibney Comms has appointed Carlo Crighton as chairman. He is a former international director of Edelman’s tech PR practice.

CONSUMER PR: Toy emporium Hamleys has appointed Brave PR as its retained consumer agency after a five-way pitch. Meanwhile, Lawton PR

has been hired to promote the Bear Factory, part of the Hamleys Group.

FINANCIAL SERVICES: Asset recovery service FundsReunited has launched a campaign to encourage the public to claim the estimated £20bn lying dormant at financial institutions. Haygarth director Kate Smith is handling the account, which will centre on product launches, brand development and strategic partnerships.

APPOINTMENT: Edelman associate director Jon Holt has joined Golin/

Harris in the same role. Edelman director Imogen Bailey said

the agency’s tech team would be bolstered by the arrival of an account director next month.

CONSUMER PR: Spanish sportswear brand Joma has hired Manchester-based FWM PR to handle its UK consumer PR. The appointment follows a review that kicked off last autumn (PRWeek, 24 October 2003). The push includes the targeting of sports and lifestyle media, plus local retailer PR support and trade PR.

AGENCY REBRAND: Countrywide Porter Novelli has rebranded as Porter Novelli from 21 May. CPN has been the UK arm of PN since 1993.
