Agency staff were this week transferring calls about Gallucci to Marie Louise Windeler, CEO of WPP’s Hill & Knowlton, the agency from which PiranhaKid was spun off at the end of 2001.
Windeler would only say that the issue was ‘tied up with lawyers’ and declined to comment further.
Gallucci, who will take the summer off before his ‘next challenge’, said: ‘I felt I needed some freedom from WPP constraints.’
He added that he had already held ‘interesting conversations’ about his future prospects.
PiranhaKid directors Brid-get Jacottet and Rebecca Rhodes have assumed day-to-day control of the agency.
PiranhaKid has around 15 staff and clients including Ford, Wanadoo and Nokia.
Gallucci formerly held roles as youth and consumer MD and new business director at H&K, and was head of new business at Freud Communications.
