Greenwich drive for foster carers

The London Borough of Greenwich has launched a two-week ‘foster a smile’ campaign to help boost the number of local foster carers.

The campaign complements a nationwide drive by charity The Fostering Network to raise the profile of foster carers and address a national shortage.

The ad and media relations campaign asks potential carers to contact the council. Current foster carers are also available for local media to contact. A spokeswoman said: ‘We are short of carers from all types of ethnicities and backgrounds.’

There are 97 registered foster carers in Greenwich, and at least 500 children without carers, according to the council.
