The news distribution site, which carries 20,000 press releases every year, is to be overhauled. The new design will carry ‘media-rich’ press releases with sound and pictures and provide a more targeted approach to distribution, according to Glide Technologies managing director Sam Phillips, who designed the platform.
‘It should be easier for journalists and the public to access public sector news stories,’ he said.
The website will offer an online press office, a distribution centre with a contact management system, an intranet, a workflow system for approval processes and an evaluation tool.
It is already used in-house by private sector firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and John Lewis.
