Ofcom rises up Monitor after telecoms review

Telecoms regulator Ofcom made a surprise entry into the top three of this week’s Reputation Monitor, a table usually dominated by the corporate world.

It took third position after the media’s positive response to the results of the first stage of Ofcom’s telecoms review. It plans to force BT to reduce the rates it charges rivals for access to its broadband network.

Asda came second after Dixons and other retailers named the group as a significant factor in their decline.

Low-cost airline Duo hit rock bottom with an NNI of –69.1 after the company failed to refinance its debt and collapsed, leaving 1,200 passengers stranded overseas.

The ranking is compiled from Thomson Intermedia’s National News Index, a measure of media sentiment that excludes stock market reports and passing mentions.
