The stand-off began in February when seven of its comms team rejected plans to streamline the department and all but one of its eight staff were axed (PRWeek, 20 February).
A demonstration in support of the comms team was held outside the council’s offices on 26 April. This followed a letter from Austin Mitchell MP to Meehan the week before, urging Meehan to resolve issues ‘in a principled and reasonable fashion’.
It is understood corporate comms manager Nicky Hulford has also resigned after only ten months in the post.
