'I first met Kit when he was head of Lautro, the life assurance and unit trust regulator subsequently incorporated into the Financial Services Authority. We pitched to him unsuccessfully, but Kit paid us a fee for our work, typical of his fairness and decency.
'When it was announced that Kit was leaving Lautro, I asked if he'd be interested in setting up a regulatory practice at FH. Given our modest operation at the time - in the mid-1990s - it was a quixotic approach, but one which to my delight, Kit accepted.
'I realise even more now that Kit's arrival in those early years of our existence helped us an awful lot. It gave us huge credibility in financial services, and helped us to punch above our weight. I like to think that his legacy of wisdom and kindness lives on here.'
