Evans replaces Jenny Heffron in the London-based role and moves from her current position as director of product PR (urology) within the drugs giant’s global commercial strategy (muscular-skeletal, inflammation, gastro-intestinal and urology) arm.
Evans will work alongside director of product comms Gary Davies in the role, in which she will handle PR for around half the firm’s product portfolio, including Levitra, Seroxat, Seretide and Augmentin. She will also report to Davies.
Evans, who takes up her new role next month, joined GSK three years ago. She was formerly a marketing manager at Schering-Plough.
Evans’s current role focuses on developing communications strategy for assets in the R&D pipeline as well as brands that are currently available.
She has recently handled brand PR strategy for products such as Avodart, which treats symptoms of enlarged prostate.
A recruitment process taking in both internal and external candidates is already under way for a replacement.
Heffron has quit GSK after two years to join healthcare PR agency The Workhouse in the newly created role of associate director (PRWeek, 9 April). She leaves at the end of this month.
