Brunswick handled PR on £53.2bn worth of European mergers between January and March, while FD worked on deals worth around £38.7bn. Mergermarket said Brunswick and FD’s work on the £34bn Sanofi-Synthélabo bid for Aventis dominated its league tables for the period.
Joint third position was held by Capital MS&L and its French sibling Publicis Groupe.
Brunswick and FD also held the top positions for European countries with the most developed financial industries. But whereas Brunswick advised on the largest total value of deals in the UK (£8bn), FD led Mergermarket’s table by value in Germany (£36bn) and France (£36bn).
Neither firm made a significant impact on the fast-growing Italian market, where Ogilvy PR topped the league after working on M&A deals worth a total of £741m.
