2012 PR bidders deny Cassani rift

London2012 comms boss Mike Lee has blamed ‘outsiders’ for a press report suggesting the PR agencies pitching for the contract to promote the bid overseas were unhappy with chairman Barbara Cassani.

A report in The Guardian on Wednesday this week stated that ‘a number of leading PR companies had identified Cassani as a potential weakness’ of the UK bid.

Lee said the four agencies now in the running – Hill & Knowlton, GCI, QBO Bell Pottinger and Edelman – had reassured him that Cassani was ‘not an issue’. Her leadership was not even discussed at agency briefings last week, he added.‘This smacks of someone from outside trying to stir the pot.’
