Scott will play a key role in the recently restructured and renamed media service department, which has seen the creation and appointment of two new roles: media information assistant Andrew Fagg and media electronic communications officer David Webster.
Scott will have overall responsibility for highlighting the Methodist Church’s expanded position as a provider of media training for key church spokespeople as well as promoting the activities of the Church to the public and publicising its website and IT comms strategy.
‘I believe that my experience as a journalist will allow me to see the church’s PR strategy from the other side of the fence,’ Scott said. ‘I hope to ensure the church is represented fairly in both regional and national press.’
He will report to head of communications Chris Kitchin.
