Diary: Booth prepares to do battle in York

Peter Mandelson might not appear to be the obvious choice for a role model but Lewis PR's Clive Booth is full of surprises.

The tech agency's top spin doctor has launched his bid to start a career in politics.

Lewis has made the final shortlist of candidates for selection as the Conservatives' parliamentary candidate for the City of York.

His reason? 'To quote Plato, "the price good men pay for not taking an interest in politics is to be governed by people less able than themselves",' says Booth.

'Politics has a bad reputation because politicians forget that they have two ears and only one mouth,' he adds.

'I always remind my PROs and clients about that and I intend to use mine in that proportion, too.'

Time will tell, Clive.
