Consumer PR: Fashion brand Pringle of Scotland has taken its UK consumer PR in-house and appointed Hayley Mitchell to the newly created role of UK PR manager. Mitchell joined from Surgery PR, which was Pringle’s retained agency for the past two-and-a-half years but has now ceased to work with company. Hatch-group continues to handle corporate PR for the brand.

Technology: Software firm Citrix Systems is to hire Lewis PR as its retained agency in the UK. Citrix marketing director Alison Smith confirmed the agency has won a two-way pitch and will replace incumbent Axicom, which declined to repitch.

Media relations: Golin/Harris International has hired New York Daily News spokesman Ken Frydman as EV-P and director of worldwide media relations. Frydman was formerly V-P and director of corporate comms for the Daily News and US News & World Report.

CSR: Oil giant BP has appointed Matt Taylor as corporate responsibility manager. Taylor, who fills a newly created post left his former role as public affairs and sustainable development manager at BHP Billiton last year.

Technology: Systems Solutions, a Birmingham and Dublin-based firm that supplies Windows-based IT software to the pharmacy sector, has drafted in Mulberry Marketing Communications to handle UK PR. The agency was hired after an uncompetitive pitch and reports to marketing manager Rachel Weir.

Consumer PR: Exhilaration, the ‘gift experiences’ division of lastminute. com, is to launch a consumer and trade PR push through Flare Communications. The agency reports to marketing manager Mark McCulloch.
