Work up for grabs is handled currently by Consolidated Communications. Big-mouths PR’s remit promoting handsets and accessories is unaffected.
The brief includes handling Virgin Mobile’s advertising, marketing, sales, product, sport and music sponsorship as well as promoting new products and services.
Director of corporate affairs Steven Day said: ‘We may appoint several new agencies or we may not need to have a formal pitch. We would like to talk to lots of agencies and find out who has the best ideas.’
The review is being overseen by Day and Alison Bonny, who has been promoted from press officer to head of PR.
The review comes a year after Consolidated was reappointed to handle the consumer and sponsorship. It does not affect Consolidated’s handling of the firm’s public affairs account.
Bonny said: ‘We’d like to see an innovative, fun agency with off-beat, quirky ideas. We’re open to the use of stunts and a funky, tongue-in-cheek approach.’
