The agency was hired after a four-way pitch against August. One Communications, Biss Lancaster and Ketchum. The pitch was managed by COI Communications and is worth £150,000.
The service launches in early summer and will include real-time news and travel updates, allowing people to compare travel options across different modes of transport and book and pay for journeys online.
Red’s brief is to engage key stakeholders and transport bodies in the early stages of the campaign and develop creative and interactive consumer launch platforms to take Transport Direct to the public in early summer.
A DfT spokesman said: ‘We believe Transport Direct is a huge step towards the Government increasing the quality and accuracy of travel information across the UK.’
