Lancs launches composting drive

Lancashire Waste Partnership is launching a campaign to get more people to compost household waste in a bid to hit its recycling targets.

Billboard posters will be on display across Lancashire this month emblazoned with the message ‘Don’t Wriggle Out of Composting’ illustrated with a fun worm character.

County councillor Brian Johnson said: ‘Around a third of the rubbish in the typical bin in Lancashire could be composted. The Lancashire Waste Partnership is stressing that it’s never been easier to make a positive choice in what to do with compostable rubbish.’

Lancashire is also giving away home compost kits

to encourage people to compost their own rubbish.
