ChildLine to raise money via music

Children’s charity ChildLine is to embark on a year-long campaign next month in a bid to raise money through dance.

In Step with ChildLine will complement the charity’s musical fundraising initiative, In Tune with ChildLine, launched last week.

Both campaigns form part of ChildLine’s 18th birthday celebrations and aim to raise enough money for the charity to counsel an extra 10,000 children.

Classical piano soloist and former Popstars winner Myleene Klass has lent her support to In Tune, urging musicians across the UK to ‘turn musical notes into much needed cash to help ChildLine answer more children’s calls’.

Dance and music artists will be asked to fundraise by putting on a range of events from sponsored singalongs to musical coffee mornings.

‘These campaigns are all about having fun while raising money for charity,’ said ChildLine media and PRO Nicola Hussey.

Organisations such as the Royal College of Music, the British Federation of Brass Bands and the National Association of Choirs are backing In Tune. ChildLine said it would welcome similar support from dance organisations for In Step.

ChildLine provides a free 24-hour helpline for children and young people. Its 18th birthday celebrations will take place on ChildLine day, 15 October.
