DIARY: James to battle Dobson at election

Shire Health Group chairman Margot James has been exposed as a 'potential Maggie Thatcher' who likes nothing more than to whip up a Delia Smith marmalade.

The revelations, made in a diary piece in the Camden New Journal, follow James's selection last week to represent the Conservative Party for the Holborn and St Pancras seat at the next general election. James will be taking on Labour MP Frank Dobson, who won 53.9 per cent of that constituency's vote at the 2001 election.

Given her experience at the pharma PR giant, can we expect some feisty debates on NHS policy with former health secretary Dobbo?

Possibly, says James, pointing out that citizens in the area are very concerned by matters such as drug purchasing policy.

Unfortunately though, she concedes, the drugs causing most concern to citizens are the likes of crack cocaine and heroin, rather than the branded pharmaceuticals Shire Health is more used to promoting.
