Medicom Group fills Magellan gap at Innovex

Pharmaceutical outsourcing firm Innovex UK has appointed healthcare communications and publishing firm Medicom Group.

Innovex was formerly promoted by PR and medical education outfit Magellan Medical Communications, which has closed following the sudden death of its founder and MD Tom Delaney (PRWeek, 19 November 2003).

Medicom – the agency co-managed by Martin Ellis, the former international managing director of PR giant Cohn & Wolfe – will handle work including

corporate PR for the firm, the UK subsidiary of global company Quintiles Transnational.

Innovex, which provides outsourced medical sales teams and nurse advisers to pharma firms, wants Medicom to position it as an outsourcing company that will ‘add the most value’ to pharma firms’ business, according to an Innovex statement. Medicom associate director Nicola Brett leads the account team.

MD Ellis and chairman Stephen Townsend acquired Medicom from institutional investors for an undisclosed sum last year (PRWeek, 26 September 2003).

Magellan has filed for liquidation at Companies House.
