DIARY: Eurostar picks up coveted PR award

Last week's Rail Business Awards at the Grosvenor House saw Eurostar comms director Paul Charles collect the top PR-related honour, for his team's work on promoting the high-speed train service.

The awards, presented by BBC business editor Jeff Randall, were attended by the great and good of the railway industry. Bigwigs from the Strategic Rail Authority were there, including chairman Sir Richard Bowker.

The only notable absentee was director of comms Ceri Evans, who last year left an expletive-laden complaint on the answerphone of the editor of organiser Rail Professional. 'I've got rid of my answerphone,' Andrew Goodman, the magazine's editor, said, 'so that won't be happening again'.
