Alfred Dunhill hunts for global boss as Cross quits

Luxury men’s fashion brand Alfred Dunhill is on the hunt to replace global director of comms Peter Cross after he jumped ship to its marketing agency Yellow Door to be managing partner.

CEO Simon Critchell said Alfred Dunhill already has a shortlist of candidates, adding that the position will not change. Cross’s departure after five years comes hot on the heels of the appointment of Paddy Byng from Ralph Lauren in the new role of global marketing director.

Cross previously spent 11 years as international communications director at L’Oreal but said he would regret it later in life if he did not make the switch to the agency side, which Cross said offers a more entrepreneurial and hands-on approach.

Yellow Door continues as Alfred Dunhill’s rostered marketing agency and Cross will work on the account. However, Cross said he was looking forward to working on a broader range of brands and industries, and will look at expanding Yellow Door’s international activity. Critchell said Alfred Dunhill re-opens its flagship store in London’s St James district this week.
