GSCC kicks off registration blitz

The General Social Care Council (GSCC) has begun a high-profile campaign urging social workers to register with the organisation before it becomes a legal requirement on 1 April 2005.

The registration requirement, which aims to improve services, comes under the Care Standards Act 2000.

The PR drive supports an advertising blitz featuring a character called Reg and includes a dedicated section on GSCC’s website.

It is also sending emails to social workers across England and Wales this week, and has penned letters to reach social workers through local authorities and social work tutors. The letters have been co-branded with a number of organisations including the Association of Directors of Social Services and the Department of Health.

The aim is to get the 80,000 key workers registered as soon as possible.
