EasyJet’s Nicol set to take Stansted job

EasyJet head of corporate affairs Toby Nicol is quitting to join BAA, heading comms for Stansted Airport in the wake of government proposals to expand London’s third aviation hub.

Nicol joins as Stansted’s first director of communications in May heading up a 13-strong team. He will report to Stansted managing director Terry Morgan.

The move comes after last week’s decision by Essex County Council to mount a legal challenge to the expansion of the airport. Under plans outlined in the Aviation White Paper, Stansted will get a second runway.

Stansted’s most senior PRO has been head of PA John Williams, who is now head of planning liaison and integration at the airport. Williams’s previous PA role will come under Nicol’s remit. He will oversee four comms units: media relations, community and PA, internal comms and flight evaluation.
