DCMS to ramp up anti-obesity push

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is on the hunt for a campaign manager to launch the Government’s anti-obesity drive.

DCMS director of strategy and communications Siobhan Kenny said the new hire would help co-ordinate its comms strategy with the Department of Health, the Department for Education and Skills and lottery funds distributor Sport England.

The Government wants to raise awareness of exercise and a healthier lifestyle, capitalising on major sporting events such as this summer’s Athens Olympics. The plan forms part of a long-term strategy to increase public participation in sport to 70 per cent by 2020.

Kenny added that the department had not ruled out recruiting a PR agency.
