His brief will be to bring all the council’s marketing and communications functions under a unified team and implement the council’s ‘Response’ programme, re-organising service provision to suit residents’ requirements. His remit will also include co-ordinating the research to gauge those needs.
A former director at insurer Swiss Life UK with lead responsibility for marketing and communications, Davies has been taken on for an initial six months. The final size of his team has yet to be decided. He will report to executive director for customer engagement and innovation Johanna Law-Riding.
Davies will be expected to find new sources of income for the council and improve government relations.
The council aims to raise its ‘fair’ rating under the Audit Commission’s comprehensive performance assessment, to ‘excellent’ by 2005.
