Prince Charles PR challenge looms

In the week that Paddy Harveson starts his new job as Prince Charles’s press secretary, a third of the population still think the prince is ‘completely out of touch with modern Britain’.

According to a PRWeek survey carried out by, while 53 per cent of the 1,104 respondents believe Charles should assert his claim to be king, 47 per cent want Prince William to become next in line to the throne.

On his relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles, 48 per cent said they should marry ‘at their convenience’ and 13 per cent approved of their marriage ‘after the Diana inquest’. Thirty-eight per cent say they should not marry.

And while 16 per cent said Charles was ‘arrogant and aloof’, 19 per cent believed he was ‘compassionate and thoughtful’.
