Hoon adviser in Portland position

Portland PR has appointed Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon’s special adviser of the last three years, Richard Taylor, as an account director, after he resigned following the Hutton inquiry.

Portland managing director and former Downing Street deputy press secretary Tim Allan said Portland PR is in rapid growth mode and ‘Richard joins an expanding team with expanding clients’.

Allan said Taylor brought a broad range of experience, from work at the CBI on trade and industry issues and with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to Portland’s strengths in banking and the media sector.

Taylor insisted his move is not connected to the Hutton inquiry, during which Hoon was linked to the naming of Dr David Kelly.
