North-East regen body steps up PR

Newcastle Gateshead Initiative (NGI) is on the lookout for a head of corporate communications, to run its media, PR and corporate affairs team.

NGI chief exec Neil Rami said the initiative’s aims included ‘changing outdated perceptions of the area, bringing in major events and conferences and helping boost local prosperity’.

It will be helped by a £140m programme of cultural events until 2010, and £3bn worth of development already underway.

The position involves managing relationships with agencies, regional and national broadcast media, press and trade press, as well as managing corporate events.
