ESRC initiates an online comms kit

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has launched the first online communications toolkit specifically for academics.

It is modelled on an existing online guide for local authorities from the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) Connecting With Communities project.

The ESRC has used the same team that developed the IDeA site: Grant Riches Communications and Marina Pirotta Communications.

According to Grant Riches partner Carol Grant, the priority for the ESRC site (www.esrc.ac.uk) is to give advice on getting ‘maximum impact with policy makers’.

Other priorities include developing a communications strategy, media relations, branding, website content and event management.

The ESRC is the largest funding agency for research and training on social and economic issues in the UK.
