T-Mobile axes top UK comms position

T-Mobile has scrapped the role of its top UK PRO Patrick Barrow as the global mobile network continues to centralise its communications operation.

Barrow has left as head of external comms without a job to go to after two years at the company, saying the split was ‘amicable’. However, according to sources close to the company, Barrow’s job had become ‘untenable’ because of ‘central interference’ coupled with financial PR agency Citigate Dewe Rogerson director Tony Carlisle’s increasing stranglehold over corporate affairs.

T-Mobile International VP product and marketing PR Elaine Devereux said it planned to recruit a UK corporate PR manager.

Prior to joining T-Mobile (as One2One), Barrow was head of comms and PR at Thomas Cook. He is also a former head of corporate affairs at Telegraph Group.
