US almond board in pan-Euro pitch

The Almond Board of California (ABC) is reviewing its European PR strategy and talking to agencies about work worth almost £500,000.

The six-year incumbent agency, Ketchum, is one of the agencies involved in the review, concerning a contract for the UK, France and Germany, according to an ABC spokeswoman.

The campaign will aim to stress the nutritional benefits of almonds, following a report last summer by the US Food and Drug Administration that eating tree nuts such as almonds might help reduce the risk of heart disease.

The ABC plans to hire an agency by mid-February, with the campaign kicking off in August. Ketchum also works for the ABC in the US and China.
