B’ham and Aston Villa in Clean deal

Birmingham City Council has teamed up with Aston Villa Football Club as it embarks on a fresh phase of its Clean and Safe civic pride campaign.

The campaign, which launched last October, will now focus more on combating graffiti in the city with a promotional push this week in the Aston area, home of the Premiership football club.

It is targeting local media in a push that includes photo opportunities near the club’s ground featuring teenagers clearing up graffiti and a link-up with the club’s radio station The Villan.

The push follows an announcement last week by council leader Albert Bore that £2.5m is to be ploughed into the Clean initiative and other projects to clean up the city. One previous promotional theme involved combating drug dealers.
