Rose takes up the two-year post from Virgo Health PR joint-MD Angie Wiles and is the organisation’s first chair to come from an in-house background.
Rose’s elevation was due to be announced on Wednesday (January 28) at its AGM, at which the HCA was also expected to reveal plans to open its membership up to freelancers.
Rose said that a drive to boost membership among in-house communicators was on the cards.
Twenty-two agencies and 12 pharma companies are members of the HCA, which launched in 2000.
Rose, due to leave Elan this Friday as part of the firm’s ongoing restructuring plans, will be supported by independent PRO Julia Cook.
