The new contract, which has been put out to tender this week, covers at least the next year of campaigning activity and could be extended to two years.
Much of the regional level PR, in particular, that targets the business community is already handled by the body’s in-house PR team. This brief, however, relates specifically to targeting the rest of the UK.
Invest Northern Ireland is looking for assistance targeting the mainstream media, business journalists and key opinion-formers within the business community.
The successful agency will report to Invest Northern Ireland’s international division, which has a remit that covers England, Wales and Scotland.
The incumbent for the brief is Citigate Northern Ireland. Morrow Communications handles a separate events brief for the body.
According to Citigate consultant Gary Webb, who works on the account, previous campaigning efforts by the body have included Go For It, which was aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs in the region.
Webb said that key campaign themes in promoting the region to UK businesses, particularly those involved in call centre, financial services and IT work, included its large workforce and low property prices.
Invest Northern Ireland was created in April 2002 to replace the work of a number of business support, tourism and inward investment bodies.
