Media training CR-Rom launch

A computer-based course carrying ten hours of media training has been developed with the aim of teaching media-handling skills to large numbers of employees.

The CD-Rom, called Handling the Media, and developed by broadcaster and businessman Jonathan Hewat, covers issues from media law and libel to location TV and radio interviewing techniques, using interactive modules and self-assessment.

‘The benefit of the course is that a line manager can put dozens of people through it, and those who score highly can be sent on to sophisticated media training,’ said Hewat.

Included on the disc are tours of national, regional and local TV newsrooms that explain how the media works.

Hewat, who is the founder of Moonraker FM radio stations in Wiltshire, said the course would act as an introduction to media training as well as a refresher course.
