B&CE in pensions PR drive

Building & Civil Engineering Benefit Schemes, the largest financial services broker for the UK’s construction industry, is launching a PR and lobbying campaign to increase the take-up of stakeholder pensions.

The pensions and benefits operator has hired Polhill Communications to handle external communications from next month.

Financial services lobbying firm Cicero Consulting will manage the organisation’s public affairs.

B&CE’s PR campaign will be aimed at persuading workers with stakeholder pensions to increase their contributions, and those who do not have such pension plans to take them up.

The organisation is also hoping to persuade the Government and employers to encourage the growth of stakeholder pensions.

Polhill director Terry Hepplewhite is managing the PR account. Cicero Consulting director Iain Anderson will handle the PA work.

B&CE provides the UK’s most popular stakeholder pension, with more than 250,000 members. Stakeholder pensions were launched in April 2003, offering cheaper products.

New rules designed to simplify pensions are due to take effect by April next year.
