The brief will involve marketing, PR and overseeing production of council publications, as well as its website. It will also entail improving ties with major employers and nearby local authorities.
The city’s last comms head, Chris Elliott, left 18 months ago to start a consultancy. The post has since been held on an interim basis by former marketing head Tim Smith.
‘Since the post fell vacant, we have done a lot of work and brought in outside consultants to re-examine the way we do communications,’ said senior public relations officer Mike Douglas.
