Brunswick hires former Moody’ s head

Brunswick has hired ex-head of Moody’s Paris Catherine Gerst in an attempt to improve its clients’ relations with credit rating agencies.

Gerst, who has also held the position of deputy manager at Paris-based investment operation Compagnie Financiere de CIC et de l’Union Europeenne, ran Moody’s office in the French capital for two years as managing director and head of Moody’s France.

She joins Brunswick from financial engineering and M&A advisory firm Gimar Finance, where she was responsible for ratings advice and structured finance.

Gerst will be Brunswick’s first partner specialising in communication to credit rating agencies, which assign companies and their bond issues credit ratings according to the stability of their balance sheets and outstanding liabilities.

Brunswick believes there is a growing market for advice on how to communicate with the most important agencies (Moody’s, Standard and Poor’s and Fitch) as the recent European acquisition spree was increasingly financed through new debt issues.
