DIARY: Ghosts of Xmas will now haunt Citigate

Clients with an appetite for gut-expanding PR hospitality might do best to avoid Citigate Communications, if the pre-Christmas shenanigans at the agency's Birmingham office are an accurate barometer of its generosity.

No PR agency would ever want to be perceived as cutting corners, but Citigate surprised its clients (and their families) by inviting them to a private viewing of classic 1951 film Scrooge (the one with a fabulous central performance by Alistair Sim) as a seasonal treat.

Explaining this unorthodox method of entertainment, account director Hilary Field denied there was a 'hidden message', before adding: 'It's a lot cheaper than feeding them.'

Bet the clients loved it.
