Children’s charity creates PRO role

NCH, the children’s charity, has created a senior press officer post as it embarks on a series of fresh initiatives to support vulnerable children.

It has hired Jennifer Walters to the role, with a brief that covers policy and campaigning. The appointment comes as the charity pre-pares to launch a fundraising campaign, called Give It Up for Children, on 16 January, aimed at encouraging volunteers to raise money by giving up something, such as smoking.

Walters, who reports to NCH acting head of press and campaigns Jackie Lloyd, joins from The Children’s Society, where she was a media officer.

Walters said: ‘NCH is aiming to step up its focus on campaigning, which is why this post was created.’

NCH has around 500 ongoing projects in the UK aimed at supporting around 100,000 children each year.
