MEDIA: Scottish PA hires features editor to target nationals

The Scottish Press Association has expanded its team with the appointment of Rachel Blackburn to the newly created role of features editor.

Founded in October, PA's Scottish arm is now aiming to extend its features output to national newspapers and high-profile consumer magazines.

PA head of features Mandy Appleyard said: 'PA tends to be associated with supplying features to regional newspapers, but we're looking to expand into national and consumer weeklies, and Rachel will be a key part of that.'

Blackburn previously spent a year in Los Angeles as celebrity news and features editor for PA. She returned to the UK this year and was part of the original team that headed up the Scottish Press Association.

Blackburn will be based in Glasgow and focus in particular on expanding human interest and celebrity features.
