It has emerged this week that McLaren has successfully lobbied central London postal authorities to hand H&K the postcode W1A 1PR (geddit?).
When PRWeek called to ask whether this apparent coup was true, McLaren was effusive, saying: 'We went to the Post Office and asked them if we could do it and they said no. But they (later) said it would be appropriate - it's very imaginative of them.'
'This has McLaren written all over it,' one former H&K staffer tells PRWeek, pointing to McLaren's two personal car number plates (999 COP and KUH 2) as evidence.
Given the Royal Mail's well-chronicled financial woes of recent years, McLaren reckons flogging bespoke postcodes could be make for a 'very interesting revenue stream' for Allan Leighton and co.
