The new Local Government Communications Leaders Development Programme has announced the names of 12 delegates chosen to take part in the inaugural course.
Beginning in January 2004, the seven month programme consists of three residential modules and is organised by the Local Government Association’s Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA).
The delegates had their applications supported by their CEOs and demonstrated ‘the necessary experience, qualities and commitment’ for entry.
Among them are Mike McCabe, the newly appointed assistant director of customer focus at the London Borough of Islington, and Slough Borough Council head of corporate comms David Holdstock.
IDeA principal comms consultant Pascoe Sawyers heads the programme. He said: ‘Ultimately, sharing the group’s knowledge throughout local government will raise the benchmark for local government comms.’
