Delaney, who founded Magellan – an independent PR and medical education agency – in 1990, died unexpectedly on 9 November at his home.
The agency released a statement paying tribute to Delaney and said: ‘the consultancy will continue to provide clients with the highest level of service possible’.
Adrian Lucey has been appointed as a director at ten-strong Magellan, whose clients include Pfizer UK, Abbott Laboratories and the National Obesity Forum. Delaney repurchased Magellan from Ogilvy PR Worldwide in 2001 (PRWeek, 2 February 2001), having sold the agency to the global PR giant just two years previously (PRWeek, 26 November 1999).
Prior to Magellan, Delaney worked at firms including Merck Sharp & Dohme, where he was a marketer for five years.
